Emmett J Neal Sr.

Our lead servant Emmet Neal Sr. brings over 30 years of dedicated ministry and service to his role as Senior Pastor at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in San Francisco. He is a compassionate leader, a committed social-worker, a devoted husband, and a father who embraces both the spiritual and human dimensions of leadership.

Early Life & Calling

Emmett Neal was born and raised in San Francisco, deeply rooted in the life of the local church. He sensed his call to ministry early, preaching his first sermon during his high school years and receiving his minister’s license in 1991. Simultaneously, his heart for people led him into the field of social work, where he holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work from San Francisco State University.

Ministry & Leadership Journey

Emmett Neal served earlier ministries, including pastoring a church in San Francisco from 1999–2002 before accepting his current role. Since joining Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in early 2000s, he has led significant milestones — from building renovation to expanding community outreach. His dual experience as pastor and social-worker uniquely positions him to address spiritual needs and practical challenges in the community.

Community Impact & Service

With his social work background, Pastor Neal has been actively involved in child welfare and human services in San Francisco. His leadership reflects a conviction that “faith in action” matters. Under his direction, the church has engaged in structural restoration, youth housing initiatives, and wider community partnerships. He emphasizes not only preaching the gospel but also being “the hands and feet” of Christ in everyday life—especially in urban ministry contexts.

A Family Man

Macedonia's Lead Servant Emmett Neal is a devoted husband and father, seeing family life as an integral part of his ministry and witness. His commitment to home, marriage, and fatherhood echoes his broader value of legacy and transformation. His grounding in family helps him relate to others who are striving to balance faith, work, and family responsibilities.

His core values—faith in action, community & compassion, legacy & transformation—are lived out not just in sermon time but in partnerships, outreach, and everyday presence in San Francisco.
